Inbetween the house hunting, museum going and sightseeing, I've had a bit of spare time to kill...

So I picked up some yarn and knitting needles...

So I was thinking the other day about quilting...mostly because all my stuff is still in storage in MN and I cant do anything...but...

What comes first for you? the pattern/design of the quilt or the fabric that you are going to use?

I tend to go either way, but more often the fabric comes first...I constantly have little fabric stacks sitting around waiting for a pattern or idea for a quilt. (the stormy squares quilt that I just realized I have not posted here yet is one example...I think I posted the stack a while back though..)

Sometimes I do however, design first and then find the fabric..for instance, I have a fantastic idea for a space/firefly (as in the awesome show that was tragically canceled way too early..) quilt, but I do not (yet) have the fabric for.

Whew.

Things have been biz-zay around us for the last month or so since I last blogged.

Packed everything in our little house into an even littler PODS unit. Drove (drove!!) from Minneapolis to DC. Packed an insane amount of house-hunting into a week (we only get a short time to stay in the hotel for free..) and now are waiting on closing on a cute little house in Northern Virginia.

At least...it will be cute after we paint over the horrendous colors the previous owners painted.

And finally, I will have a sewing/art space to call my own...either a backyard shed (we couldnt get into it, but the listing says its a finished shed..but we'll see about that later..) or extra bedroom.

Yay!
